Definition of the competition
Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of the Republic of Poland, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Abu Dhabi, the Goethe-Institut Gulf and the Embassy of France in Abu Dhabi Fourth International Students, Amateurs and Pianists at the National Theater in Abu Dhab
– The opening ceremony of the competition accompanied by NSO Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, 10 November 2016
– The competition starts on Friday and Saturday 11 and 12 November 2016
– Concert (Piano) Monday to Wednesday 14 – 16 November 2016
– Closing ceremony and announcement of results Thursday 17 November 2016
– Closing ceremony accompanied by NSO Symphony Orchestra on Friday, 18 November 2016
1. The festival targets young Emirati citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates (who have valid residence in the UAE)
2 – Contestants pledged that they are amateurs and not specialized or hold university degrees from an academic or musical university, by signing them on the attached participation form.
3- Fill in the form and sign it and then send it back to the competition email: emtf 2016 @ mcycd.gov.ae
4 – Deadline for registration is 25 October 2016.
5. The organizing committee will announce the timing of each contestant after receiving all applications.
6. All contestants will have enough time to try the piano before the competition starts on the national stage.
7- The contestant can practice at the piano center in Abu Dhabi.
8 – Competitions will be documented through audio and video recordings and therefore the rights are reserved for the organizers.
Participants must perform a minimum of two pieces of music, with the work being composed by a piano or accompanied by an orchestra.- Each participant should play at least one track for one of the authors (Chopin – Beethoven – Debussy). – The second track should be in a manner different from the first track, or to another author. – All participants must abide by the time allowed for each category, the jury has the right to stop any participant exceeding the time allowed. – Participants are not obliged to perform a lump of memory, but will not allow an assistant to flip pages.
The first category – up to the age of 11 years – allowed time from 6 to 10 minutes The second category up to the age of 14 years – time allowed from 7 to 12 minutes The third category until the age of 18 years – time allowed from 8 to 16 minutes.Class 4 (novice player) 3 years maximum – time allowed from 5 to 10 minutes. Class 5 (average player) 6 years maximum – time allowed from 10 to 25 minutes Class 6 (Advanced Player) Allowable time is 15 to 30 minutes Note: Age is calculated from 31/12/2016 Awards- Awards and certificates of appreciation will be distributed to the contestants at the closing ceremony – Each participant will receive a certificate and a shield to participate. – The top three winners will receive cash prizes from the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development. – Prize for the best performance of the author Chopin presented by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the UAE in cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Culture and Heritage. – Beethoven Best Performance Award by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the UAE and the Goethe-Institut Gulf. – Award for the best performance of the author Debussy presented by the Embassy of France in the UAE. – All awards are decided by the jury with the final opinion in determining the winners. – All winners are obliged to participate in playing the music at the closing ceremony of the competition.
